Oficiales mexicanos están secretamente ayudando a miles de haitianos a llegar ilegalmente a la frontera con Estados Unidos, señaló esta semana un documento interno del Departamento de Seguridad Interna de Estados Unidos (DHS, por sus siglas en inglés).

En dicho oficio se detalla la ruta que toman los migrantes y los miles de dólares que pagan para el tráfico humano y hacerse camino señalando también que, en ocasiones, el gobierno vecino de Estados Unidos juega un rol de complicidad.

Son más de 6 mil los haitianos que han llegado a la frontera de San Diego del año pasado a la fecha, un asombreso incremento del 18 por ciento en relación al resultado del año fiscal del 2015-.

Otros más de 2 mil 500 estaban esperando al norte de México para cruzar desde la semana pasada, y 3 mil 500 no estaban ya muy lejos, algunos esperando en Panamá para emprender su viaje hacia el norte, de acuerdo a documentos obtenidos por el Representante, Duncan Hunter, Republicano de California.

Los migrantes están pagando por lo menos 2 mil 350 dólares para ser trasladados ilegalmente desde Sudamérica hasta la entrada de Estados Unidos, donde muchos siguen presentes ante la frontera y demandando asilo en el país.

“Los haitianos han forjado un peligroso y clandestino nuevo camino para llegar a los Estados Unidos”, dice el documento, que resalta que en detalle la ruta y los precios pagados a los contrabandistas de humanos, así como el pago de boletos de autobús, dónde los obtienen ilegalmente y otros documentos de tránsito.

Su viaje comienza en Brasil y sigue una ruta de 7 mil 100 millas hacia la costa oeste de Sudamérica y Centroamérica, cruzando once países, viaje que les lleva alrededor de cuatro meses.

Mexican officials are quietly helping thousands of Haitians make their way to the United States illegally, according to an internal Homeland Security document that details the route taken by the migrants, the thousands of dollars paid to human smugglers along the way and the sometimes complicit role of the neighboring governments of the U.S.

More than 6,000 Haitians arrived at the border in San Diego over the past year — a staggering eighteenfold increase over fiscal year 2015. Some 2,600 more were waiting in northern Mexico as of last week, and 3,500 others were not far behind, waiting in Panama to make the trip north, according to the documents, obtained by Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican.

The migrants are paying at least $2,350 to be smuggled from South America to the doorstep of the U.S., where many present themselves at the border and many demand asylum in an attempt to gain a foothold.

“Haitians have forged a dangerous and clandestine new path to get to the United States,” says the document, which lays out in detail the route and the prices paid along the way for smugglers, bus tickets and, where they can be obtained legally, transit documents.

Their trek begins in Brazil and traces a 7,100-mile route up the west coast of South America and Central America, crossing 11 countries and taking as long as four months.

Some countries are more welcoming than others, according to the document, which was reviewed by The Washington Times. Nicaragua is listed as being particularly vigilant about deporting the Haitian migrants if they are caught, so smugglers there charge $1,000.
